How's it going Reader! I never expected I'd be able to use AI efficiently to help me with stuff. I was convinced that text-based AI like ChatGPT was just for churning out cringey slop. And considering the damage that image-generating AI has done to the digital art industry... I'd rather just avoid the whole lot. Evil stuff. But I definitely see the merit in using AI tools to help with tasks you otherwise struggle with. Especially as most of us are doing our creative work entirely on our own....

Happy Thursday Reader I want to get real technical and nerdy today. π€ Let's talk about the things you actually need when you're in the foundational stage of creative business. The internet loves to tell us that we should be making money immediately from our creative work. And that we're doing it wrong if we can't do that. Hmmm......... this is not reality for the majority of people. The foundational stage of a creative business can last months or even years. (It has indeed been years for me...

Hey Reader! Today I wanted to remind you that the great things you're envisioning for yourself are infinitely more important than your statistical "successes". I saw this YouTube Short recently. And I thought ough that's so real. Numbers follow us absolutely everywhere don't they... and most of the time they carry so much shame. They restrict us and keep us stuck! I'm always amazed by that type of person who is fueled by their own inner creative vision. Someone who doesn't let numbers get to...

Hi Reader ππ» Do you mind if we talk a bit about decision-making today? Specifically, the art of saying "no". For many of us, this is a severely neglected skill. It's something that takes a long-term practice of patience, gentleness, and self-trust to develop. We default to saying "yes" to everything. We're surrounded by a culture that preaches doing more, harder, faster, better. Going against this is a gem. Taking Burnout Seriously In the specific case of burnout, itβs not a sign that you...

Hi Reader, Welcome to the very first issue of this behind-the-scenes newsletter! Iβm so glad youβve decided to join me on this journey as I work towards growing my freelance income from part-time to full-time. This is gonna be a big summary of where I started and what I've done so far. 1. Where I started Like a lot of freelancers, I started out on Fiverr. It was completely on a whim after seeing some of Alex Fasulo's videos on TikTok back in January 2022. I'd previously tried doing freelance...

How's it going Reader! I made a list of "ins" and "outs" for 2025 because I have some strong opinions lately. Thought it would be quite cathartic (it was!!) (It also took ages) I just picked things based on what I've been thinking about lately. There's no specific theme but it's mostly about productivity & creativity. Here's what I picked: Out: Those ads that are like "you don't have burnout, it's cortisol addiction. Hack your ADHD with this science-based productivity routine etc etc" π This...

Hi Reader! Happy New Year π₯³ I hope you had a good holiday season. Much like everyone else I've been reflecting a bit on 2024 and getting excited for 2025. At the start of the year it's really tempting to decide 2024 wasn't "enough", just want to forget it all and rush into the next year. It's easy to become disconnected from ourselves, get stuck in our own heads coming up with lofty goals, plans, ideas... But it's so important to find that connection again. To come back to the present and our...

Hiiii Reader ππ» This topic is fairly close to my heart... I've noticed that in the online music industry, there's a sense that there's a right way to work towards your goals. The top dogs will say "this way worked for me, so that's what you should do too!" It's not wrong of them to do that. They only want to help you succeed. But there's an implication that if it doesn't work for you, it's your fault. It's because you didn't want it bad enough. etc. etc. How damaging is that?! We're all very...

What's up Reader I recently saw this post from social media coach Donavan Barrett (One of the few social media coaches I actually trust! π«’) He's talking about 3 different ways to stand out online, and why one particular way is best for most people. (Spoiler - that one particular way is being unique) I see so many of us hold ourselves back due to concerns about "overcrowding" Especially artists making a popular genre. Or those who wanna sell common items like sample packs or beats... I can...
