What to focus on in May πŸŒΊπŸ‘€

How's it going, Reader?

May is gonna be a fantastic month, I'm calling it now!

How about we take a moment to look at what's coming up and what we wanna focus on?

Making it easier to say yes to what you do

A useful question to ask yourself right now is:

If someone discovered my website or saw my content today, would they immediately understand what I do and how to work with me?

If not, that's a really good place to start.

You're already familiar with your work, so it's easy to forget that you need to keep explaining it to those who don't know you so well.

Focus on defining who your work is for and what transformation you can provide for them.

I've noticed that many people (including me πŸ˜‚) are getting more and more fed up of bullsh** and AI slop word salad...

Which I'm imagining means that patience is low, and people are more discerning.

They'll be more drawn to writing that is specific and easy to understand.

Upcoming Summit (4th–10th May)

The Astonish Yourself Summit is starting today!

This is a free, 7-day virtual event for entrepreneurs, all about committing to the bold move you've been putting off for months (or years).

There's all sorts of exciting presentations in the lineup, focused on the topic of Doing Big Things.

I'm excited for Elizabeth Goddard's presentation "No Wimping Out. No Burning Out."

I'm big fans of the hosts Jennie and Meredyth. I mega enjoyed their "Make It Happen" summits in '24 and '25 πŸ˜„

30-Day Reels Challenge

InstaClubHub is running a 30-day Reels challenge.

There's a free version, or there's an upgraded version if you join their membership.

I was extremely stuck deciding whether or not to join this challenge myself.

(I eventually decided not to, you can read about why in my LinkedIn post.)

But if you want to grow on Instagram, go give it a shot!

Worried about what to focus on...

If you've been thinking about your art, your business, your idea, your project, and just wishing someone would tell you the "right" thing to do next... you're not doing anything wrong.

The creative process isn't supposed to be linear, it can go in all kinds of directions. Many of them are unexpected.

But that can feel very unsettling in a world that loves to glorify linear-ness.

You're not doing anything wrong, and there's not one right answer.

Keep trying, keep experimenting, enjoy it!

What are you getting up to? Let me know πŸ˜„

Much love,

Damon

Happy Tuesday Reader, I don't know if anyone else feels like this: My whole creative business journey thus far has been a progression of seeking increasingly bigger missions. I started out in music production. A very fun niche, and helping people with their creative expression is extremely important!! But it's usually quite a light topic. Some time later, I started making content online about productivity and mental health. These things were at the front of my mind, and I wanted to be able to...

How's it going Reader? I thought I'd do a little end-of-the-month review with you so we can discuss what's working or not working πŸ€” Sound good? You're welcome to reply and tell me about what you've been up to! This month my theme was taking action + celebrating it as much as possible. A few months ago, I wouldn’t have had the capacity to: start selling consistently, show up on social media again, create new resources, or make decisions about pricing. It took time, patience, practice, and...

Hey Reader, I had a BEAUTIFUL burst of inspiration on Wednesday 😍 You know when you go to put some small tweaks on a bit of work... but then something clicks and you're like OH F*** YEAH and you spend the day redesigning the whole thing. This is what happened with my free content repurposing guide. I decided to watch Lizzy Goddard's "Clicks Don't Lie*" training. (*affiliate link. Plsss get this if you are offering freebies or digital products it is genuinely ENLIGHTENING!) I went to tweak my...
