Hiiiii Reader ππ» β Is it just me... or is everyone starting to sound the same π A lot of my favourite creators and favourite newsletters are melting into a generic-sounding "voice". And it's because of AI content π¬ AI can sound "like you", but it doesn't necessarily feel like you. It uses characteristic phrases and sentence structures that I'm getting really bored of reading. ChatGPT is great. As someone who is easily stressed and struggles with planning and decision-making, it's so useful for organising my work + ideas. But it concerns me because I feel like I'm no longer reading people's honest, unfiltered thoughts. Sure, the AI content probably expresses the information the author wanted to share. It's just been polished and tidied to look all neat and stuff. But maybe... the "point" of content is not always to express information in a neat and polished way? Aren't we trying to build human-to-human connections with an audience so they can benefit from our work? You are the one who has the same lived experience as them. Feeling the same passion they have, feeling the thing they're struggling with, knowing what they need to hear. If you can put that into words, that's how people will know they were MEANT to connect with you. You can certainly use AI content to help with that. But please don't let it water you down and make you sound dull and unoriginal π₯ Use your own phrases, figures of speech, slang words, swear words!! Make it yours!! (That also doesn't mean you have to be good at writing or have a magic way with words. One of my favourite creators - Creative Hackers - successfully grew his audience of several thousand as a dyslexic writer before he ever started using AI-assisted content!) β If you'd like me to write some human content for you, you can apply to work with me here π€ β AND - I've got some slots for my new offer - 1:1 Wednesdays. Hi Reader! How are you doing? I'm back, I recovered from surgery, and I'm ready to get to work! π€ There was a part one to this email (you can read it here) and now I'd like to share part 2. Honestly, weβre about halfway through the year and itβs time to step things up. We all know how important it is to have confidence + good self-esteem. It includes beliefs about how skilled we are, how capable we are, plus whether we are likeable. It affects every area of your life. ESPECIALLY creative...
Hiiii Reader! I don't know about you, but whenever I hear someone saying "create more than you consume" I'm just like oouuughhhh Because they are very right to say that. But also sometimes I just cannot get off this thing π²π²π² I'm not here to get all negative about scrolling and make us all feel bad though. I actually wanted to talk about how I'm on a Big Mission to have more self-confidence. Obviously a big part of that for us is going to be creativity and creative work. (I'm also doing a...
Goooood morning Reader! Lately I've been doing some new things to reconnect with my creativity (it felt extremely lost the past few years π ) I've been spending time outside, touching/smelling/looking at plants and stuff to feel more grounded. I've also been playing with paints, pencils, and oil pastels just for funsies. Being online or working on computers, a lot of us are rarely doing stuff that is... physical. We don't really use our body much. (And I don't mean just in terms of exercise,...
