Hiiii Reader! โ I don't know about you, but whenever I hear someone saying "create more than you consume" I'm just like oouuughhhh Because they are very right to say that. But also sometimes I just cannot get off this thing ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฒ I'm not here to get all negative about scrolling and make us all feel bad though. I actually wanted to talk about how I'm on a Big Mission to have more self-confidence. Obviously a big part of that for us is going to be creativity and creative work. (I'm also doing a โvideo series on TikTokโ about this. I did name it "day X of" but then realised making a video every single day would be insane behaviour for me right now. So now that doesn't quite make sense. Whateva!) โ When we spend time "consuming", we get a good look at all the amazing people and amazing stuff that's out there. That's a good thing! I've found so much inspiration online. My photo gallery is stuffed with cool art and cool ideas. I've got many playlists of amazing music from artists of all sizes. But when we overdo it, we go from "inspired" โก๏ธ "I can never be as good as them" It's a tricky balancing act between getting inspired without getting bogged down in self-doubt. โ When an idea is important to us, that's a lot of pressure to get it "right". And it's even more pressure if we have our minds filled with other people's work that we've just looked at. โ That pressure stops us from finishing projects. It makes them not fun anymore. When we don't finish things, we lose the belief that we're capable of finishing things. We start believing that we can't even start things. Our confidence goes ๐๐ โ On the other hand, it's wild how much confidence you can gain by completing things. Tiny things, fun things, things that can't "go wrong". Give yourself a confidence boost by feeling accomplished ๐ This weekend, I painted some fun fruit shapes. Now I'm adding some pencil to them as well. โ There's much more I'd like to say on this topic, especially about positive self-image. Look forward to another email next week. And if you want to reply and tell me what you made recently (or even just what you want to make ๐) I'd love to hear it. โ Peace โ๐ป Damon P.S. ways to work with me: โ๏ธ Copywriting - currently taking new projects for July ๐ฒ 1:1 Wednesdays - a day of message-based coaching support for creatives (one available date - 28th May) โ โ ๐ฑ Stuff I'm Doing Recently ๐ฑMay Week #4 โ Find me on: My Website | Instagram | TikTok | LinkedInโ โ |
Hi! I'm Damon. I help creative businesses share their message online. I also send sporadic newsletters about creative life.
Happy Tuesday Reader, I did it!! I put together my 3 new Content Repurposing offer packages. I spent a lot of time at the end of last year thinking about how to make content creation easier for creatives. The biggest thing I focused on was "repurposing" โ i.e. using the same content multiple times. These offers are aimed at creative business owners who've already made great content, but are now burned out and stuck. Sure, creatives can repurpose their own content, and it'll be wayyyyyyy...
Happy New Year Reader! ๐ I hope things are going well for you. I feel like people are being crazier than usual with the January challenges and discipline obsession ๐คจ (have you noticed this too? Don't let 'em get to ya.) If you asked me how I spent 2025, I'd probably say something like: "learning how to support myself" or "learning how to work in my own way" which both sound SO vague and wishy-washy. What do these things mean!!! I'm gonna tell you about what they mean for me. ๐ถ But before I do...
How's it going Reader? This week for me marks 3 years of daily meditation practice. It's the only "daily streak" I keep, and I'm very proud of this commitment. To me, it represents a commitment purely to myself and my own peace. I don't like to talk about meditation as some kind of "stress management hack" that will then help you "focus better at work". Though it does reduce stress, my own practice is a spiritual one. It doesn't exist to just be a productivity hack. It doesn't exist to solve...
