Goooood morning Reader! β Lately I've been doing some new things to reconnect with my creativity (it felt extremely lost the past few years π ) I've been spending time outside, touching/smelling/looking at plants and stuff to feel more grounded. I've also been playing with paints, pencils, and oil pastels just for funsies. Being online or working on computers, a lot of us are rarely doing stuff that is... physical. We don't really use our body much. (And I don't mean just in terms of exercise, though that's important too!) The body can end up being totally disconnected from our creative process and our day-to-day tasks. I reckon there's something really valuable to be found in connecting more with the physical world. β My first experience of "digital creativity" was our trusty friend GarageBand. I loved it! I also got into digital art about 5 years ago with a second-hand drawing pad and a copy of Clip Studio on my laptop. Seriously difficult to get started with, but fun! I'd be confused when people talked about the benefits of "physical" mediums. Like hardware synthesizers, or real instruments, or proper paints. Why use those when I could achieve a "good enough" effect on a computer? I didn't want to have to buy more stuff just to create with π β I'm now finally, FINALLY, understanding what people mean when they say the process matters more than the outcome. It's one of those "you'll understand when you're older" things that just takes time to realise. Spending all day looking at screens does more than give me eye strain. It makes me get indescribably stressed and irritated (lol π€ͺ) Creating with physical stuff has a totally different feel like... a different sensory experience. β I'm wondering if there are other ways to turn online tasks into more physical experiences π€ Playing with paints is cool and all, but my work tasks are all on the computer. (Is this why people have standing and walking desks π) I might try writing and planning things on paper. Seems a like a good next step! Whatβs your favorite way to bring creativity into the physical world? You're welcome to reply and let me know! β A little business update:If youβre a creative running an online business and struggling to communicate what you do in a way that feels natural (without the weird marketing persona act), I can help. Hiiiii Reader! How are you doing? Everyone's saying 2025 has been hard/weird/unpredictable. And they're not wrong π« It's been chaotic. There's a lot going on. Though I'm feeling quietly pleased with myself because I've got more done lately than for a long time. (Sorry if you haven't. I'm bragging.) This year has pushed me to lock tf in and Systemise. Everything. I previously avoided productivity systems like this because I didn't understand how I worked. Planners, calendars, trackers, etc....
Hi Reader! How are you doing? You know, I think I'm hoping that if I just keep making content on the internet... I'll eventually realise that I can just talk about whatever I want. Like... I'm the one in charge here! I could make a vlog or sing a song or become a beauty influencer π π» It doesn't have to be clever or niche or useful. With that in mind, what I'm ACTUALLY thinking about right now is this: I hate feeling like life is an optimisation problem. Where you have to do everything as...
