Hiiiii Reader! How are you doing? Everyone's saying 2025 has been hard/weird/unpredictable. And they're not wrong ๐ซ It's been chaotic. There's a lot going on. Though I'm feeling quietly pleased with myself because I've got more done lately than for a long time. (Sorry if you haven't. I'm bragging.) โ This year has pushed me to lock tf in and Systemise. Everything. I previously avoided productivity systems like this because I didn't understand how I worked. Planners, calendars, trackers, etc. They never fit me. It was much more effort to use them compared to the reward they're supposed to provide. I'd give up immediately. But having made more progress on the "understand yourself" front, this year I'm trying again ๐ It felt like the right time to bring some clarity and efficiency to how I work. โ Here are some systems I've built recently. I hope you can take some inspiration from them? โ Content HubI've never liked content calendars or "batching content". I mostly post things at random/last minute. This Notion database is my attempt to create a system. It has one main goal: To remind me to use ideas AT LEAST 3 TIMES. One idea = at least 3 pieces of content. This saves so much energy. The database lets me stick an idea in the top part, then below I can add multiple pieces that link back to it. Rating: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโโ 3/5 It's okay. I hoped it would inspire me to post more but it hasn't ๐ I also need to add an easier way to capture ideas when I have them. โ Outreach TrackerOne of the scary parts of freelancing is that you have to face the cringe.... and go network with people ๐ฉ This Notion database helps me track who I've talked to on LinkedIn. I can add labels to people I want to send a DM to. I can see who I haven't talked to in a while, and then go comment on their recent posts. Rating: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโ 4/5 It's not COMPLETELY perfect. I think it could do better when paired with a system for starting conversations, e.g. "message X number of new people per week". But without this I probably would have forgotten about every person on there ๐ โ Weekly PlannerMy wonderful business coach Dan suggested using a physical task tracker, with a combo of:
And this is what I came up with. I can add and prioritise tasks in the grid on the left. Them schedule them into the week on the right. โ Rating: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ 5/5 This is the one. I get a sense of novelty from writing down tasks and sticking them in. The bright colours make it FUN. It's a very obvious visual cue if I've stuffed loads of different colours into one day that... it's not gonna work. And there's something... better about physically organising things on paper, rather than a screen. โ If you are doing some kind of restructuring like this too, I hope it's going well! โ Much love, Damon โ ๐ฑ Stuff I'm Doing Recently ๐ฑDecember Week #2 (Links with an * are affiliate) โ Find me on: My Website | TikTok | LinkedInโ โ P.S. want to work with me? Hi! I'm Damon. I help creative businesses share their message online. I also send sporadic newsletters about creative life.
Happy Tuesday Reader, I did it!! I put together my 3 new Content Repurposing offer packages. I spent a lot of time at the end of last year thinking about how to make content creation easier for creatives. The biggest thing I focused on was "repurposing" โ i.e. using the same content multiple times. These offers are aimed at creative business owners who've already made great content, but are now burned out and stuck. Sure, creatives can repurpose their own content, and it'll be wayyyyyyy...
Happy New Year Reader! ๐ I hope things are going well for you. I feel like people are being crazier than usual with the January challenges and discipline obsession ๐คจ (have you noticed this too? Don't let 'em get to ya.) If you asked me how I spent 2025, I'd probably say something like: "learning how to support myself" or "learning how to work in my own way" which both sound SO vague and wishy-washy. What do these things mean!!! I'm gonna tell you about what they mean for me. ๐ถ But before I do...
How's it going Reader? This week for me marks 3 years of daily meditation practice. It's the only "daily streak" I keep, and I'm very proud of this commitment. To me, it represents a commitment purely to myself and my own peace. I don't like to talk about meditation as some kind of "stress management hack" that will then help you "focus better at work". Though it does reduce stress, my own practice is a spiritual one. It doesn't exist to just be a productivity hack. It doesn't exist to solve...
